Taylor's Makeup Favorites

This post is meant to be a dump of some of my favorite makeup products. Some products I've been using for 5+ years! I started getting really into makeup during my Sophomore year of college, because my roommate at the time (Shoutout Amanda!) was makeup artist who loved to practice on me. Safe to say I fell fast and hard, my relationship with Sephora has never been the same.

Before I get started, you should know that I have oily skin that is generally clear of blemishes, aside from the occasional hormonal pimples (thank u mother nature). If you have dry or sensitive skin, I would recommend checking out some of these products before you dive in.

Brushes

Let's start with brushes. Morphe is a favorite brand of mine. The collection I'm linking is perfect for anyone starting out with makeup or who wants to refresh their brushes. For $34 you get 8 brushes, pretty much every brush you need for face and eyes, AND a faux leather case for them. They're the perfect combo of price and quality. When it comes to applying your makeup, even if your products are top shelf, if your brushes suck, your makeup won't look good. It's that simple really!!

Beauty Blender

When it comes to applying any kind of liquid foundation or tinted moisturizer, I always go with a beauty blender. A beauty blender is a sponge that can be used to apply makeup while wet or dry. Use the large, rounded sides in a "dabbing motion" to apply makeup all over the face, and the pointy endI always get mine wet before applying anything. Sticking with the perfect combo of quality and price, I recommend the Real Techniques brand beauty blender. My only suggestion is especially if you wet your blender, to clean and REPLACE it often!

Primers

If you find that your makeup melts off by the end of the day, it could be because you haven't primed your face so the makeup can stick! Typically I would apply the primer after moisturizing my skin, before any foundation or concealer. Bottom line is a good primer will make all the difference in the look and wear of your makeup.

The Benefit Pore Professional Face Primer ($13 for the mini) is my go-to. It is great for oily skin, especially if your goal is to minimize pores. Sephora actually offers 3 different sizes of this primer. Try out the mini if you know you won't need to use a primer daily.

For my eyes, I use too-faced shadow insurance . They are not kidding when they say 24 hour anti-crease. Your eyeshadow will stay PUT, day into night into day. Apply this before any eyeshadow. Pro tip, to take your priming/setting game a step further, 10/10 would recommend adding the urban decay setting spray to your routine.

Foundation

I cannot say enough about this NARS tinted moisturizer. It's buildable, has SPF (IMPORTANT) and doesn't look cakey or clog my pores. I used to be a full coverage kind of gal, but this product seriously changed all of that. As someone with oily skin, I didn't think I would like a tinted moisturizer at all. But this product truly leaves my skin with a velvety matte finish. Its perfection.

Eyes

SO, I could talk all day about my favorite eyeshadows. My go to palettes are all conveniently by Tarte and Morphe. Morphe eyeshadows just cannot be beat for the price. They have these incredible 9 pan palettes that are only $12!! Also, the Tarte, Tartelette eyeshadow palette (bottom right) is the first ~luxury brand~ palette I ever bought, in my sophomore year of college. It is still one of my favorite palettes.

I know this post only covered a few of my favorite makeup products, but I plan on creating more with more goodies, tips, and tricks- and maybe even a tutorial! Comment and let me know what you want to see more of!
